I have completed my BSc and MSc degree in biotechnology at the University of Agriculture, located in my home city – Krakow (Poland). Both of my theses were written in the Department of Physiology and Endocrinology. During my professional career I gained valuable international experience during my stay at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (Spain). Then, I was a trainee in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Research in John Paul II Specialist Hospital (Poland) and biotechnological company – Biopolis S.L. in Valencia (Spain). Most recently, I have been working in the Jagiellonian Centre for Experimental Therapeutics (JCET), where I carried out in vitro and in vivo studies focused mainly on adhesion of cancer cells to endothelium and the share of platelets in metastasis and development of vascular cognitive impairment. Thanks to the fact that I have had an intensive training in the field of vascular biology I have been recently awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie scholarship within INTRICARE project at Maastricht University – CARIM (School for Cardiovascular Diseases) in The Netherlands. My doctoral thesis will be focused on explaining the effects of platelet derived extracellular vesicles on cells from blood and vasculature. Personally, I am a hard-working and accurate young scientist, with a keen eye for detail. I am flexible, quick to pick up new skills and eager to learn from others. The most important lesson that I have learnt? Do not give up easily!
