Stefan Reinhold

I started my PhD in October 2017 at CARIM, Maastricht University at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Before that I studied applied and molecular biotechnology at the RWTH Aachen University (Germany). In September 2017 I finished my master thesis with the title “Cloning, expression and purification of recombinant Hepatocyte Growth Factor with a tPA-restriction site for the guided migration of mesenchymal stem cells in the context of tissue engineering” at the Institute for Pathology and the Biointerface laboratory at the Uniklinik RWTH Aachen. In 2014 I participated in the iGEM competition in Boston (USA) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as part of the RWTH Aachen team.Prior my master’s degree I studied biotechnology at the FH Aachen University in Jülich (Germany) and I finished my studies in 2013.  My PhD research will be focused on the role of the protective arm of the renin-angiotensin-system (RAS). In particular, I want to examine the role of the angiotensin 2 receptor (ATR2) and its possible potential as a therapeutic target for the treatment of intimal calcification.
